One of the top-selling small convertibles ever produced, the breakthrough feature of the Luhrs 36 was her molded flybridge steps in the starboard corner of the cockpit. Rather than climb a near-vertical ladder, a staircase made bridge access easy and safe—an innovative concept soon picked up by other convertible manufacturers. Built on a solid fiberglass hull with a wide 13'10"" beam and flared bow, the 36 boasts a very spacious interior although it comes at the expense of a relatively small cockpit. The two-stateroom, galley-up floorplan is arranged with a queen berth forward and a settee in the guest cabin that converts into over/under single berths. A separate shower stall is found in the head, and an L-shaped settee/dinette is to port in the spacious salon. The engine room is accessed through a hatch in the salon sole. Topside, the Luhrs 36 gives up some flybridge space to accommodate the stairway, but not much. Fishing features include a transom door, transom fish box, cockpit rod storage, and a molded bait prep center to port. Outrigger equipped. A factory half tower was standard.
